3 Tips to Promote Positivity

Folks on Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr, even the promotional emails that land in my inbox all have the same message lately. “Postive Vibes”; it may seem a little hippie, but it brings a message that we can all tune into. The type of “vibe” or vibration something gives off is real. You see, nothing ever rests. Everything in the universe moves, and never stops. When you do things to raise it, you then start vibrating at a higher frequency. The higher your frequency, the better you feel physically, emotionally, and mentally. You can experience this in a number of ways. A great way to get started is by staying positive.

1. Positive affirmations

Hello, person staring at the screen. Just wanted to let you know that, you’re an absolutely stellar person!!! 😊 Now, tell me that didn’t make you feel a little bit better? Imagine if you could see that in writing every single day. Would you feel the same amount of emotion? I would only hope so! Saying positive things to yourself isn’t conceited or crazy. It’s actually one of the most effective ways to change your thoughts into a positive state. You are affirming something within yourself and that pushes it along to be a reality. The more genuine you can stay with yourself, the better. Don’t joke around, or think about the things you can improve on. Not just yet; focus on the best qualities, the things you love most about yourself. Write them down and recite the goals you want to achieve daily.

Write down 15 affirmations to yourself before you end the day. Try to make a different list once a month. Just find a few minutes to actually write/type down positive words just for your eyes. Ex: “I am special” “I am honest” “I am a great _”. Read these words when you wake up in the morning. Even if you’re sitting at the breakfast table, sitting in the car or in class. Read them quietly to yourself because it WILL put a smile on your face (if ya do it right!). Have your affirmations around when you’re feeling down. Keep them in your car, wallet, purse–anywhere that you have easy access to.

2. Helping Others

Understanding and being empathetic is one of the most humane things we can do. Being able to feel how another feels. Don’t get caught up in treating people as bad as they are. Instead, treat them as good as you are. We’ve all know that person who is always cheery and happy. When they are sad, it’s very apparent because we know that it’s out of character for them. Seeing them smile and laugh again is something that will unwillingly pass your mind because, in a way, it’s important. That person’s mood affects your mood, whether you want it to or not, you would say maybe… their vibe is off. This isn’t something I had to research, it’s just something I’ve learned over the years. Even if a person is not someone you know very well, try to stay positive and lend a helping hand.

Volunteer at your local shelter over the weekend, or message someone who you know has been having a hard time lately. Any little gesture could turn a someone’s day around– there are only benefits to reap! Giving compliments and lending a helping hand can impact you in a very positive way. Try committing 5 acts of kindness a week; write down or just simply acknowledge how you feel after each act. Helping others can be a “live saver” in more than one way.

3. Gratitude

How much value do you see in your life? We buy things to make us happy & to make life a little bit easier. Sometimes the material things can build up and block the doorway to the mirror though. The value you place on yourself is more important than the items scattered around your home. Treat yourself with kindness first before anything.

When the day is over, it’s time to relax and heal– not continue to beat yourself up mentally. At night, we tend to think of all the things we need to do the next day. Stressing sometimes about what the future has in store for us. Instead of thinking how the day went wrong, re-live as many positive, beautiful things that happened instead.
Make yourself feel good from the inside out by eating quality food. Eat a pound of strawberries, take a hot bath, dance around the house to some feel good music. Do whatever you need to do to get your vibe right. Make a list of 10 things you are grateful for sometime this week. Throughout the week, continue adding to the list. When you realize what you have, your life can feel more fulfilled. 🌎
